Despite the warm, hot and not so very pleasant ,Indian summers have an intrinsic beauty of its own .
The noon period of the the summer month is something that one need to experience to fully understand the real essence of both Indian summer and the many pleasantries it holds .
Since childhood, Indian summer has always been an integral part of my life, I found it to be a milestone and a key turning point , because ,it was at the end of every summer vacation, a new academic year awaits me ,with new clothes, books and new adventures in a new grade.
Summers for me were like a gateway to new openings, and therefore will always will hold a special place in my memory space.
As a hyper energetic kid , I would never sleep during summer, and was always up to some mischief, playing under the trees, looking at the birds, the running tap water and the endless silence which enveloped the house as my family members retire for a shot nap.
No amount of horror stories by my aunt ,whether it was about the anger of sun around noon or the eagles laying eggs on my head, could not dissuade me to venture out in the hot noon. I continued on with my expeditions till i exhaust myself completely.
Most of all pleasant and positive experiences can be found in the daily ordinariness of Life,we don’t really need anywhere to go out to seek it .Mehnaz Amjad
Not everyday , but few afternoons in summer are very silent ,and every time I sense and feel this Silence of the afternoon’s,a flashback of memories come back ,as if a record has been re-winded at a very fast pace ,the silence is not eerie, but heavy ,loaded with way too many memories that it can hold .
Over several years, the summers have not changed much , but my way of enjoying the season did undergo a drastic change, with one exception that “I still continue to enjoy it .”
My study room which is now my modest office ,is also my new summer abode, after a tiring day at work ,lying down on the floor mat of my office, before the desert cooler throwing in more water than air ,lulls me to a deep sleep for few minutes ,waking up refreshed and rejuvenated ! all set to conquer the world again.
With age the outside adventures have now turned into deep sleep episodes of few minutes ,perhaps this is what experience and wisdom does _replaced the active to seeking a more relaxed state.
